“RECONSTRUCTION” AS CULTURAL MYTHOLOGY
“Reconstruction” As Cultural Mythology is an ongoing painting project of inquiry and exposition following the awareness that the period following the American Civil War called, Reconstruction, was never fulfilled. We have not left that historical moment culturally or politically. In fact, it was a period of the re-establishment and support of reactionary forces of oppression against liberation that continue to express themselves in the forms of hegemonic White Supremacy today. It is evident that we have entered a period of cultural repression and destruction- a lynching of progressive moral values.
